Lamino Edition 2022

Homage to the city

With its iconic line, Lamino moves as naturally in urban environments as in more rustic ones. Accompanied by Pierre Frey’s graphic pattern play, the expression becomes a timeless wink at the silhouettes of the city, multitudes of street lamps reflected in puddles of water or reflections of light in a glass facade.

Yngve Ekström was always both. An autodidact from the countryside, who found sources of inspiration in the local craft. At the same time he was fascinated by the fine arts, and constantly keeping an eye on international and urban role models. Yngve traveled to the Salone del Mobile
in Milan and came home almost feverish with impressions and inspiration. He also made sure that everyone at the factory would share his experiences from the big world and took the entire staff group on trips which included many cultural elements. During the 60s, 70s and 80s, the trips went from Vaggeryd in Småland to Athens, Venice, Cortina and Paris, among others.

A man of contrasts.

There is great attraction in the wide variety and dense spaces of the city. A pulse and a drive that we used to take for granted, but which has lately slowed down and lost some of its intensity. In the absence, we are reminded of the cities we love, and this year’s Lamino Edition is a tribute to them all.
